Poodle clip styles popular in Florida
Poodles (Standard, Miniature, and Toy) are among Florida's most-groomed breeds, and they offer more cut options than almost any other breed. Most Florida pet Poodles wear one of four cuts.
Sporting cut. Short body (1/2 inch), slightly longer legs, rounded face. Easy to maintain, looks tidy in heat, holds up well between visits. Most popular Florida choice.
Teddy bear cut. Slightly longer (1–2 inches), softer rounded face. Cute, but mats faster in humidity. Needs daily brushing and grooming every 4–5 weeks.
Continental clip (modified). The classic show clip — shaved face and feet, pompoms on legs and tail. Rare for pets but stunning. Florida humidity is hard on this cut.
Asian fusion cut. Short body, long legs, round face like a stuffed animal. Trendy on Instagram, requires a skilled groomer. Most large Florida salons have at least one stylist who specializes.
Poodle hair grows continuously and doesn't shed. That's why it's hypoallergenic — but it also means matting is a constant battle. Brush every 1–2 days at minimum.
Ear care: Poodles have hair growing inside the ear canal that needs to be plucked or trimmed at every grooming visit. Florida humidity makes ear infections common if this is skipped.
