Florida Keys mobile grooming
The Florida Keys (Monroe County) have unique grooming logistics. The string of islands from Key Largo to Key West has limited brick-and-mortar salons but a strong mobile-grooming scene.
Storefront salons concentrate in Key Largo (closer to mainland), Marathon, and Key West. Smaller keys rely entirely on mobile services or mainland visits.
Mobile grooming dominates because many residents live on water-access lots without easy salon parking, and many homes are second homes with seasonal pet visits.
Pricing: higher than mainland Florida due to the cost of living and travel. Small dog full groom $70–$110 in salons, $100–$150 mobile.
Saltwater is constant. Most Keys dogs swim, fish from boats, or otherwise get salt-exposed weekly. Choose a groomer who specializes in saltwater coats — they'll use clarifying shampoos and rinse routines that handle the buildup.
Climate: high humidity year-round, no winter relief, hurricane risk June–November. Schedule every 4–5 weeks for high-maintenance breeds; the climate is rougher on coats than mainland Florida.
Hurricane prep: keep grooming current during peak season. Evacuating pets to mainland shelters is easier with a clean, well-groomed dog.
For tourists with travel pets: most Keys mobile groomers will accommodate one-time visits. Book a week ahead.
