Tampa Bay area grooming options
The Tampa Bay region is one of Florida's busiest grooming markets. Tampa proper has 308 listed groomers; Clearwater 102; St. Petersburg 143. Each city has its own character.
Tampa: heavily focused on suburban families. South Tampa (Hyde Park, Davis Islands) has higher-end boutique salons. North Tampa and Carrollwood have more affordable options. Westchase is mobile-grooming dominant.
St. Petersburg: smaller, more independent salons. Higher rates of fear-free certified groomers than Tampa. Strong focus on natural and hypoallergenic services. Walk-in availability is better here than in Tampa.
Clearwater: tourist-area pricing on the beach side, more reasonable inland. Lots of mobile groomers serving the condo communities.
Year-round residents and snowbirds mix here, especially in Pinellas County. Most groomers handle the transient nature with photo records and easy handoffs.
Beaches everywhere — Honeymoon Island, Sand Key, Fort De Soto. Saltwater rinses are part of life. Choose a groomer who's experienced with beach-dog clientele.
Average prices: small dog full groom $60–$95, large $90–$140. Mobile services run $80–$150 for small dogs.
Climate: humidity is brutal year-round, especially summer. Standard 6–8 week schedules; consider 5-week schedules for Doodles and other high-maintenance breeds.
